1 John 1:1-4
"AWE-FUL OR AWFUL?"
We started a new series on having assurance in our relationships with God and people called "Walking in the Light" from the book of 1 John. We enjoyed lots of family updates and a time of musical worship with some oldies but goodies focused on the "Awe of God.'
Guest teacher and Crossroads musical director, John Van Sant, brought a great teaching from 1 John 1:1-4 entitled "Awe-ful or Awful?" We reflected on our approach to God and how that affects everything.
Summary and Review Points Included:
-Need to maintain the aspect of Awe and Wonder in our relationship with God
 Set our minds on telling God how awesome He is, praying like David or Hannah
 Ascribe the vastness of the universe; all that we know; perceive to His creative power
 Ascribe the beauty that surrounds us in so many ways to Him
 Ascribe Power and Salvation and Dominion and Peace to the Author of them all
 No dashboard Jesus … worship the awesome Jesus that will return on the Clouds and all will see Him
 Overflow from His awesomeness, that your joy and the joy of those around you, may be complete!
We then reflected on the Grace of Jesus in light of receiving forgiveness for our Pride as we took Communion together. Then closed out with a powerful time singing "Is He Worthy?" together.
(PS- the answer is a resounding "YES!")
